Comics from 1956-1969

After the Second World War, the demand for comics fell sharply. Controversy also arose over alleged links between youth crime and comics. Then, when comic books were regulated by the Comics Code Authority in 1954, the industry regained momentum and publishers began reintroducing superhero stories, such as The Flash in Showcase #4. This era was marked by artistic advancement and the widespread success of mainstream American comics.
