Image Comics was founded in 1992 by seven well-known artists. They were Erik Larsen, Rob Liefeld, Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, Whilce Portacio, Jim Valentino and Marc Silvestri. The story began with the popular visual reinterpretation of Spider-Man. He and other artists then demanded that Marvel give the artists the rights to the series. The two parties could not agree, so Image Comics was founded. The most popular series include The Walking Dead and Witchblade .
